Lisa Seelye will be speaking about SLO Creation And You: Or, How We Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Queue Length.

Janna Cameron will be speaking about Using Comics to Share Research Results

In a user researcher’s perfect world, stakeholders curl up with research reports, and commit every detail to memory. In reality, hours of good work can get maybe 5 minutes of attention.

How might we condense findings, without sacrificing detail? Janna stumbled on a surprising and promising way to do this: Comics.

In this talk, Janna is going to walk through an example of how she turns qualitative research interviews into comic strips. Even if you’re not a great artist, you can start using this tool.

> Goals

ExploreTech Toronto is about exploring and celebrating diversity in the tech industry - in the technology we use, the roles and people. You will get a chance to hear from a variety of speakers who are working on interesting technical projects.

Our focus is in creating technical speaking opportunities for new speakers in Toronto’s technology community and to help achieve true gender balance within our local tech leadership. Our events will showcase at least 50% female speakers.

Come join us for some food, mingling & listen to some interesting talks!

[We run events focused on learning, sharing and growing in tech and want to create a comfortable environment for our members. As such, we ask that recruiters respect our members and our venue sponsors.]
