This South Bronx Neighborhood is home to the nation's largest produce and seafood market. Under the radar is a vibrant street art scene with numerous large murals decorating the walls of building and warehouses described as a "Village of Murals". With the loss of the 5 Pointz in Long Island City, Queens, this unique area is becoming even more important to our urban art scene. In addition to touring the art we'll take in two local parks on the water that are part of an emerging Bronx Greenway. Barretto Point Park situated on the East River, is known for its expansive views and outdoor recreation including boating, fishing and swimming. We'll also learn about some of the innovative programs for young people in the neighborhood involving both nature and the arts such The Point, which has a partnership with ICP - the International Center of Photography -- bringing classes and educational opportunities.
