Strolling Brooklyn Heights With a Free Concert at Brooklyn Bridge Park

GREAT WALK FOR NEWER MEMBERS OR THOSE FAIRLY NEW TO NYC!  This tour, which is for members who have yet to take one of our tours in Brooklyn Heights, ends in Brooklyn Bridge Park where there is a optional free concert starting at 7:00pm featuring the Grammy award winning composer and bandleader of Afro-Cuban jazz, Arturo O'Farrill!  Walking time one hour 15 minutes to one hour and one half.

Food and drink will be available for purchase in the area.  Feel free to bring your own.  I will provide options for eating out afterwards - and we'll have our usual optional group experience.

I suggest bringing something that you can use to sit on the lawn.  It will likely be pretty crowded so standing may be necessary, but it will be worth it!

Below is a link to more info about the event, courtesy of Jazzmobile:

Note - anyone not taking the tour is free to meet us in the park . My cell is[masked]-3005.  Also note that you can get back to Manhattan via ferry (to Wall Street).

Bring your camera!   This walk will take us through the lovely streets of Brooklyn Heights, America’s first suburb, NYC’s first designated historic district, filled with landmarks and architectural treasures. Some say it is the City's most beautiful neighborhood. We will stop by a church where Abraham Lincoln visited and gained inspiration to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, and stroll the streets frequented by famous writers including Walt Whitman, Truman Capote and Carson McCullers.  We’ll take in the spectacular views of the city and the harbor and learn a lot about Brooklyn history -- including the Battle of Brooklyn and General George Washington's pivotal escape across the East River with 9,000 troops to preserve the American Revolution on August 29, 1776.

Meet Up location is the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall, near the intersection Court & Remsen Streets - set within a small park.  By subway, #2, 3, 4 or 5 to Borough Hall (closest), or A,C,F to Jay Street/Borough Hall.

Hank I sent you an email as I would very much like to join this group but am having some difficulty. Would you please email me regarding the next tour? Seems like I can't join without making my contacts available online & I'm not comfortable doing that. Is that the only way to join the group? Thanks again.

So sorry about not attending. By the time I was notified there was availability I was already in Long Visiting friends. Next time maybe I will get a chance to participate.

I guess I should bow out, Hank. I haven't been to Brooklyn Heights with you, but I have been on my own and with others. I'll hold off until I see you have a wait list if that's okay.

RSVP's open Sunday night at 8:00pm. Please do not RSVP if you have been on a Brooklyn Heights walking tour. Feel free to meet up from the concert which should be great. THANKS!
