A Cafe-Philo Experience (episode 4)

"Cafe-Philos" have become an international thing (not quite a "sensation") in recent years, and have been a great way for people have open discussions on a wide variety of topics in a casual setting.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Café_Philosophique

Now, the word "philosophique" (philosophical) might put some people off initially, but the topics don't actually have to be deeply philosophical at all. We can actually discuss any topic, from "what is the difference between a friend and an acquaintance?" to "is dating more difficult in 2013 than it was a decade ago?". As long as the topic is phrased as a question, and doesn't involve fictional comic book characters in hypothetical duels to the death (let's do those another time).

So, here's how it'll work:
1) Everyone bring 1 or 2 topic questions (in writing) which they would like to discuss. It can remain anonymous or you can put your name on it if you like.
2) We'll put all the questions into a hat, and draw one out at a time. The question will be read out loud, and discussion of the topic will commence!
3) After a topic has been thoroughly discussed, we'll draw another one out of the hat. There's actually a good chance that we'll get to every topic by the end of the night.
---

Why do this?
This is an opportunity to try something different. Here we'll get a chance to talk about that lingering question that's been weighing on your mind, and you'll probably learn a lot about the people sitting next to you (more than just their names and occupations). It could also be a lot of fun, and the topic of the day could just be the one that you wrote. RSVP today!

Event was good as usual, but I don't think this was an ideal location. The building is very warm and at least the ladies' bathroom was bad (one stall lacked a door and the other one had a door without a bolt you had to hold shut by a string). Waves' conference room was good, and the event held a bit later than 6:30 makes it easier to people to attend. I suppose with a large crowd Waves isn't big enough, but please don't hold it in Reno's again.

Haha. All right, we'll continue our search for a good location.

Hey Dianne, I agree. I might go ahead and book waves private room again. And have a first come first serve sort of thing. If there are multiple nights, then no one really misses out. As well as, multiple locations.

I think I just forgot what time it used to start... Oh, but we have to leave this place at around 9 as well, so starting earlier helps.
