FPV Flying (Cesar Chavez Park Berkeley)

We're flying FPV at the Cesar Chavez park at the Berkeley Marina area.  Directions to the meetup are:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/César+Chávez+Park,+11+Spinnaker+Way,+Berkeley,+CA+94710/[masked],[masked]/@[masked],[masked],17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m5!1m1!1s0x80857f2e5eaa3515:0xf89793ae703e698a!2m2!1d[masked]!2d[masked]!1m0

1) Map your GPS to 11 Spinaker Way, Berkeley, but upon the hard left turn along the park, find parking on the side of the road. There's overflow parking in the lots.

2) Meet us at the picnic tables that are in the large field in the SouthEast corner of the park. (See pic). It's a great space with decent staging and flying areas where the public can watch safely.

Estimated flying times are from 9am to 1pm or until everyone has no battery power left. The earlier you come the better the conditions (wind) are for flying. Around noon the wind really kicks up and the kites come out in full force.

Suggested equipment to bring:

1) Your aircraft(s) and ground station (please be prepared to let everyone know the frequencies you'll be using for your Tx, Vtx, etc). You may want bring your rig in a mobile chest of some kind with wheels, it is a small enjoyable hike each way.

2) Small chair for flying  (there are some benches there for staging, but probably need to bring your own for the flying area)

3) Tools: There'll probably be enough tools and equipment amongst the members, but if you have a mobile workbench setup please bring it.

5) AMA License: (highly recommended if you are flying, you can get it here: http://www.modelaircraft.org/)

6) Bring any new tech you want to share or test. Also please bring a video display if you have it so others can view your OSD/Vtx downlink and can ride along with you.

7) Sunscreen and water.  (We'll do our best to coordinate a chest of drinks and snacks as well beforehand.)

Note: we encourage bringing any family members and kids interested in RC flying, as it's a great place for young pilots to learn best practices in the art of FPV.  For ground/flight safety purposes, we ask that all young pilots be always supervised and mentored on safe flying practices, kept away from dangerous fly zones, and be courteous/don't touch without asking in all staging areas.  There are plenty of areas in the park for bike riding, kite flying, hand-launched gliders, etc, so plenty of other things to do, but please remember, we're here for FPV learning and flying.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Can't ask for any better weather than that, clouds burned off at 9:3am sharp, beautiful sunny with light wind. Great group of people.
