San Diego Lions to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year with dance and music for senior citizens

San Diego, Feb 8 — San Diego United Lions Clubs (SDULC) announced today that their youth division, the Cubs Club, has partnered with Georgia’s School of Dance to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year with a dance and music performance for Escondido senior citizens.

The free event will be from 3:45 - 5:00 pm on Friday, Feb 15, at The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps Community Center 1301 Las Villas Way, Escondido, CA 92026.

This event is hosted by The Escondido Silvercrest Senior Housing Facility which is operated by The Salvation Army. The Escondido Silvercrest is next to the Escondido Corps.

RSVPs are required because of limited seating. Donations to support Lions Clubs and The Salvation Army are welcome.

“All the kids are very excited about this opportunity,” said Donna Lee, the President of SDULC. “They have all learned different dances and musical instruments over a number of years, and have won top awards from many regional and national dance and music competitions,” she said. “The kids are really glad to be able to bring joy and happiness to the senior citizens and to celebrate the holidays together.”

“The Salvation Army’s Escondido Corps Community Center is pleased to open our facility to our neighbor, The Silvercrest Senior Housing, and share in this amazing event “ shares Major David Ebel, the Corps Officer. “The Salvation Army has always had a great relationship with the Lions Clubs and is honored to be able to work together to provide this wonderful and exciting event.”

The San Diego United Lions Cubs Club was established in September 2012 for children ages 8 to 12 years to share and experience the joy of volunteering and assisting people in need. Some of the members have volunteered and donated at local charity events for Rady Children’s Hospital and participated in natural disaster related fund raising. The establishment of the Cubs Club has provided them a venue to further develop their caring, compassion, self-motivation and leadership.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service organization with 1.4 million members in 207 countries and geographic areas worldwide.
