Any fans of hard/heavy music out there? There must be a few, if we have 420 members. I'm going to see a Swedish "melodic metal" band called Evergrey in Dallas in October and am wondering if anyone else would like to go along. As the aforementioned brand of music notes, they're not an extreme group - they don't do any of the screaming/roaring vocals that the most intense bands are known for. Their guitarists are very good, but the singer (who also plays guitar) is the best member of the band, in my opinion.
Much of what they write focuses on the damage religion does to people. They have a concept album (The Inner Circle) about someone who, initially inspired by talk of freedom and peace, joins a cult, only to be eventually ruined by the group's beliefs and activities. It ends with an emotional roller-coaster, featuring excerpts of a sermon (the content of which is offered in the drop down menu) and some beautiful orchestral accompaniment. This is live footage and it shows how good they really are (though the singer doesn't get involved here).

Secondly, here's the official clip for the most commercial song from their new CD. The singer is guilty of overacting, but you'll notice he has one hell of a voice and the theatrical stuff of course comes with the territory of making a music vid.

They have a whole bunch of other material on YouTube if you like what you've heard so far...
