The Stamford Innovation Center is proud to announce a new program: Startup Gut Check.  The first Gut Check event will be held during the Stamford Innovation Center Networking event on June 28th.  Startup Gut Check is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to try out their business pitch and obtain critical feedback as they refine key messages and work to improve how they present their business to the outside world.

We are looking for business ideas to review.  Applications are now being accepted.  Please submit your business idea, using the online application process.

The deadline for final submission is midnight on Monday, June 25th.  Winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 27.  Applicants must be able to confirm attendance at the live event on Thursday, June 28th at 7pm.  All attendees to the event should register at this link.

Two winners will be selected to present at the Stamford Innovation Center in front of an audience of peers, investors, and other members of the startup community.  At the live event, the format will start with a 5 minute pitch followed by real time critique and feedback from the panel.  Panelists include Andy Moss, an ex-Microsoft exec who is now a senior member of the iCenter staff and Jeff Mayer, an ex-Goldman Sachs exec who now creates businesses in the energy sector.

Law firm Edwards Wildman is offering 2 hours of free legal counsel to the startups who present during the Startup Gut Check event.  In addition, qualifying companies will be considered for Edwards Wildman’s HIT program (Helping Innovators Thrive), where the firm has committed support to startups equaling $2M/year in discounts, deferrals and awards of free legal services.  Additionally, companies chosen to present will be awarded one month of free co-working space at the Stamford Innovation Center.

All members of the startup community are welcome to attend to hear the type of feedback received.  Time is short, so enter today to get your chance for this valuable experience.

Remember, the live event is Thursday, June 28th at 7pm. All attendees to the event should register at this link. We look forward to seeing you there!
