All Meeting Agendas:
- Socializing and getting to know your fellow Cyber Security Journey attendees (Introducing yourself and tell us something IT or Security related that you learned this week)
- Old Business/New Business
- Ethical hands-on practice in an offline lab
We use Kali during this Meetup. Kali Linux has over 600 preinstalled digital forensics and penetration testing programs. Kali Linux can run natively when installed on a computer's hard disk, can be booted from a live CD or live USB, or it can run within a virtual machine. It is maintained and funded by Offensive Security Ltd and can be downloaded at https://www.kali.org/downloads/
If you need help with getting Kali setup, try watching this video which walks you through installing Kali in Virtual Box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVmWMogGX4Q
It is advisable to install and update Kali. Additionally, we advise installing a vulnerability scanning tool like OpenVas and/or Nessus within Kali.
Sign-up for a free (limited) Nessus license at: https://www.tenable.com/products/nessus/nessus-essentials
So bring a laptop or Raspberry Pi (and screen) with Kali, an open mind, and a willingness to share your cyber security experiences. This reoccurring Cyber Security Journey Meetup will progressively increase Pen Test / Ethical Hacking experience through hands on workshops that are focused on IT topology discovery, vulnerability detection and compromise, and post exploitation development.
We are looking for sponsors. If you can help us with this, let the leadership team know.
Meeting is located in the Global Bistro Restaurant. Parking is free.
