-Stress Management -Anxiety/Depression/Other Mental Health Concerns
Bi-weekly Monday meetings are centered around sharing wellness goals, providing feedback and encouragement to others, and discussing new ideas. Above all, our aim is to be a safe non-judgmental space for individuals to feel heard and valued. We also plan to hold additional fun outings once a month as a means to facilitate community among members. Authentic relationships centered on growth and support are one of the core values of our group.
For 2019 we are expanding the mission of the Fairfax Wellness Support Group by inviting members to attend workshops fostering personal growth and development.
February is National Eating Disorders Awareness month! Eating Disorders are complex mental illnesses rooted in biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. According to the National Eating Disorders Association, surveys estimate that 20 million women and 10 million men in America will battle an eating disorder at some point in their lives. Eating disorders are serious but treatable illnesses, causing significant health problems and psychological distress for those suffering.
This workshop will focus on increasing awareness on what eating disorders are/are not, types of EDs, potential causes/risk factors, health consequences and resources for recovery. There will also be time for members to share personal experiences and struggles with these issues and to ask questions. Whether you are actively struggling with issues surrounding food/weight, want to better support someone else with these concerns, or are just curious to learn more, we hope you will join us for this workshop.
***The workshop will take place at the City of Fairfax Meeting Room A***
A variety of snacks will be provided.
