Fairfield County Boardgames Organizer Change

Hi All

I'm sending this to all the members of both the New Haven and Fairfield County Boardgame groups. Please excuse the cross post.

Recently, there was a thread of emails on the Fairfield County group started by Steve, the founder, regarding closing the meetup group.  This was due to the costs that the organizers pay for any meetup group and his time for gaming have become limited.  After speaking with Steve about two weeks ago I took over as organizer the Fairfield group. This was because as the organizer of the New Haven group I had the ability to be the organizer of an additional group at no charge. Nothing will change regarding how this group operates.

So for the moment, both groups will continue to exist.   However, there are costs involved with Meetup, which come out to be about $150 per year.  Since taking on the group originally a couple years ago, Lisa and my attendance has become less due to the birth of our daughter. We pay on a yearly basis and our year ends in a few months.

The groups have never asked for money in any sort of required manner, and I don't plan on changing that. I feel the groups should be free to all who desire to attend.  Having said that, any donation made toward this cost would be greatly appreciated.

Danielle has posted an event for gaming tomorrow(Friday) night.  In her description she mentions keeping the Fairfield group alive.  I totally appreciate her efforts to keep the gaming happening and wanted to let everyone know that the group possibly closing is currently not an issue.  I hope to see you all across a gaming table soon.

Don
