What we're about

This is a group for anyone experiencing public speaking anxiety and fear of public speaking. It is a safe sharing space to talk about it, and start working on it at your own pace in a supportive group of people with similar experiences, through activities meant to gently help each participant to face their fears and come out of their comfort zone with no pressure to do a perfect job. If you are unsure, just come and see—you won't be forced to do anything you don't want to!

**About the Meetup..(and also read the "Note" at the end below)** We're all on this journey together, so let's get together again to practice our public speaking - get out of your comfort zone, but doing it nice and gently, at your own pace and boost your confidence in the process. It's been fun with lots of good take-aways learned at our past meetups! Our last one was another fun meetup. Those who have attended previously have commented they were pleased to find the meetups fun, informative and with good practical value and useful tips. This meetup is a safe starting point for people who have a mild to strong fear of public speaking and wish to practice and improve. In a typical meetup, members take turns to speak on a topic of their own choice for 1 minute in front of the group—which after repeated practice helps outgrow feelings of nervousness and anxiety. For those who feel more adventurous there's the voluntary option to "speak on the fly" from a selection of topics! The secret to ridding yourself of your fear of public speaking is to expose yourself to it gradually and regularly, and this meetup is the perfect environment to get started as you'll be with a group of people who are supportive and have had a similar experience. Come join us...bring a friend if you wish! *********************************** Some comments from our past meetups.... "Danny is great at putting people at ease and he is a wealth of information when it comes to giving presentations. Really enjoyed the meetup. Valuable tips....I felt a genuine connection between us, I think because we shared our vulnerabilities. Thoroughly recommend this group." "This is the best meet up group I have been..good friendly people and encourage the people participation..free atmosphere to speak." "Today I attended the first session and the experience was just awesome. Friendly atmosphere and felt bit relaxed post the Meetup session. Danny provided constructive and honest feedback, which would help the individual to work on specific improvement areas." "I'm so happy that I could be there with you guys. Really nice people with a lot to contribute to the group. Danny, man, you are doing a great job. Thank you so much for your help and support." "Danny manages to give constructive criticism without damaging my fragile self-esteem. He's really supportive and we progress at our own rate." "..insightful session. Heaps of sharing, pointers and it's a fun experience. Looking forward to another one." "Awesome event, Danny has a real authentic purpose and passion, really saw the change in everyone, including myself....Especially since Danny's skills apply to not just the first few steps, he also has lifetime of experience in challenges environments and roles guiding individuals of all types and experience." ************************************ If you are unsure, come see me at the beginning and let me know if you would like to just watch. The more you practice, the more confident you will be! **NOTE: 1) Please ensure you bring the correct change as $2.00 per person is collected to put towards running the group and the cost of the Meetup site membership. Thank you! 2) Please turn up when you have RSVP'd you are attending. If you find you cannot make it later, please ensure you change your RSVP to 'No' as there may be others who would then be able to take your place. This consideration is much appreciated! 3) This is an after hours meetup. The library will be closed. PARKING - The Library undergound car park will be closed.
