The mission of Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California.
Families travel from around the world (volunteers who speak another language are very much welcome!) to bring their children to CHLA for its world renowned treatment of pediatric cancer and bone marrow transplants. The LARMH provides these families with inexpensive, and often free, lodging close to their child's place of treatment. The House also serves as a haven of hope where families can share experiences and offer comfort to each other.
We will be providing lunch for 90 people (30 kids and 60 adult) and after lunch an hour of games with prizes (does not have to be expensive, a little prize for the kiddos that are undergoing treatments/away from home) or a loot bag for 30 (approx.) kids.
**PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE SICK, FEELING SICK, OR EVEN THINKING YOU ARE SICK, WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU...BUT THINK OF THE KIDS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO JUST A little VIRUS**
Take a look at their facility: http://larmh.org/FacilityDemo.html
Items to prepare at their kitchen.
We will be serving approximately 60 adults and 30 kids. Please sign up to bring an item:
-Potatoes or Pasta dish
- Meatball or Hotdog or Burger
- Bun (for burger/hotdog)
Condiments like mustard, mayo and ketchup are available in their kitchen.
Games to Play: Suggestion please (if board game, please bring the game)
UPDATE: I talked to the event coordinator, Claudia, and she said that 90 is roughly the count for adults and kids, combined. They have a full house since it's summer (kids spending their summer in the hospital, instead of camp or Disney). Claudia mentioned that street parking is available, but they also have a lot behind the building. No need to bring utensils (they are pretty much equipped). Just check-in at front and they will direct them at the kitchen. I will make sure that I am on-site at 11AM.
