COVID-19 UPDATE: Since we are meeting on Zoom, at this time, we welcome pain sufferers, worldwide. Please join us, if you are feeling isolated.
PLEASE NOTE: Since we are meeting on Zoom, we ask all New Members to supply a profile picture that is a photograph of your face, without sunglasses. This is for the safety and security of our group.
Who We Are:
We are a Support Group for people who live with Fibromyalgia and other forms of Chronic Pain. It's led by myself, Christine, the Group Organizer and Mark D., the Co-Organizer. We are Meetup partners and also partners, in real life. Between us, we have over 40 years experience in not just surviving, but thriving, with chronic pain. We will share the many things that have worked for us, and a few that didn't.
How We Work:
The Group Leader, either Christine or Mark D., will post a topic, on the event page, in advance of the meeting. On the day of the meeting, after the introductions, the Group Leader will state the topic and share their personal story relating to the topic. Then we will go around the table, or Zoom room, and everyone will share their story, relating to the topic.
If there isn't a topic posted, the Group Leader may:
1) Name one at the meeting.
2) Give members a choice of two or three topics to discuss.
3) Do a general Check-In, where we each share what is happening in our lives, at that time.
To be a safe space for people to talk openly about their pain, without judgement, or criticism. To be a place of understanding and support.
Please join us, at our next meeting!
A Quick Note - We are Not:
1. A substitute for private counseling. 2. A client source for practitioners, or people offering "cures" for chronic pain. 3. A source for prescription medication. 4. A dating service. 5. A space to promote your company, brand, or crafts.
Anyone posting or messaging myself, my partner or our members with inappropriate, threatening, or harassing content will be promptly and permanently Blocked and Reported to Meetup.
Also, Please Note:
We are not licensed therapists. If you need help, please call 211, available in most major cities in the United States; or call your local Crisis Line, for connection to resources, such as personal counseling, financial assistance and housing.
