Homeschool Delight is a biweekly program series designed for parents and students that are seeking to enhance their education in the natural history fields. The goal is to create a well-rounded experience of our natural areas with hands-on and interdisciplinary learning. Program participants will learn about astronomy, archeology, regional culture and history, ecology and biological diversity, outdoor safety, geology and conservation. We will also explore the importance of creativity and wellness and how nature can play a role in both. All programs will meet at the Estrella Park Nature Center.

*** Please note that for all programs, water and close-toed shoes are required.

    Meet at the nature center.
    Parking costs $6

    Program Topic: Wildlife Study

Description: This afternoon, we will take a short hike along the Gila River and search for wildlife, big and small. We will search for and identify aquatic invertebrates, learn what features to look for to help you identify bird species and gather data on the species we find, and create and complete an ethogram. We will also take the time to simply enjoy this beautiful, peaceful walk.

You have to stay but you can choose not to participate

Parent participation is encouraged but in some classes it is required. Last class it was an archeological dig and some parents participated and some didn't.

Ok thank you! I have a 12yr old who would probably rather me not stay unless I have to 😉

  • Amanda

    Do parents stay?

Yes. In some instances parents are expected to help their kid(s) depending on the age of the kid(s).
