FileMaker Collaboration, Performance, and Insight with InspectorPro
InspectorPro is designed to be the perfect companion tool for FileMaker Pro Advanced, extending the Database Design Report (DDR) to provide more comprehensive analysis of the schema, scripts and design elements in your FileMaker solutions. Most importantly, every new version of InspectorPro is built using the latest version of FileMaker itself, and takes advantage of new features in our favorite custom app development platform.
In this presentation, we’ll cover the newest iteration of InspectorPro, both as a developer tool and as a case study in building modern FileMaker solutions:
Server-side Performance - InspectorPro 6 introduced a new feature called “Perform DDR on Server”, leveraging the power of FileMaker Server to offload processing from your local copy of FileMaker Pro. The key is FileMaker’s PSoS (Perform Script on Server) — we’ll look at the results of this method, to free you from long waits, and how InspectorPro is crunching large DDRs.
Team Collaboration - Heading into the future, FileMaker development often involves more than just the solo “Citizen Developer”. These days you may have multiple developers building different parts or versions of a solution, and other stakeholders who want visibility into work being done. How do you improve collaboration between those whose hands are touching code, as well as those observing from not too far off? We’ll examine InspectorPro as a solution running on FileMaker Server, and some ways to improve team collaboration.
Detailed Insight - How can I clean up an inherited FileMaker solution, or my older databases? What are best practices for inspecting references and dependencies, and looking for problems across scripts, calcs, layouts, security, schema, and more? Whether you have a solution you’ve been building for years, or are just getting started, there are plenty of important details that analyzing your FileMaker solution can provide insight into.
We have a number of surprises up our sleeves that we can’t wait to show you. Hope to see you there.

Auditing at the intersection of PSoS + Transactions + Popovers (of all things):
With these 3 tools and techniques, one can do some pretty amazing things when it comes to auditing. It’s something that we have been using more and more of lately with great results. We’ll look at the building blocks of how to add this technique into your solutions and give your users the insights they are looking for.
