Let's see "Amour" at the Regal Beach multiplex on Saturday, Feb 23rd at 3:45 pm.

It's Oscar nominated and won the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year. What more do you need to know, right? "Amour" has a stellar cast and is proclaimed by no less than Roger Ebert to be an unexpected masterpiece by Michael Haneke, its writer and director. Let's meet in the lobby by 3:40 pm, or join us inside the theatre if you arrive late. The post-film discussion will be held at a nearby Al's Pizza, unless the location is supplanted by a better suggestion. A $2 donation to cover website fees is always appreciated.

One would be hard-pressed to find a film like this from Hollywood. Too much truth.

And not enough gunfire and explosions! Not to mention no happy ending or set up for a sequel.

The words "raw truth" are a very good description for this film. It's unflinching in its portrayal of what it can be like to care for a loved one going through an excruciating decline in health. My thanks to all who attended and to those who were able to join in our discussion afterwards at European St. Cafe.
