What we're about

We're a friendly casual Meetup group of people who enjoy the media or mediums of motion pictures, film, animation, and videos as a springboard and catalyst for more formal discussions. Selections are suggested by members in person and are generally not restricted: art house to mainstream, silent film era to present day, almost all genres. In general, our Meetup events are for discussion only. Think of us as a book club style meetup for film. We try to get suggestions for screenings at least a month in advance and post them to provide as much time as possible to view or review selections.

Please feel free to peruse our Google Doc which has the list of things that have been suggested with completed ones highlighted in blue:

Joker (2019)

Online event

If the weather cooperates, and there are no changes to state and county restrictions, we'll meet again at the Rocky River Park at 1500 Scenic Park Drive, Lakewood, OH *** NOTE TO NEW MEMBERS *** Please watch the movie before the meetup. Information to help find the films will generally be posted in the description or in the comments on the webpage. During the meetup itself, we discuss the movie, but we don't watch it. It's a book club style movie group.

Under the Skin (2013)

Online event

"Under the Skin" is a very slow burn, meticulously deliberate film, that excels in visual storytelling. Dialogue here, as in real life, is often minimal to non-existent. If you prefer a film to provide recaps, flashbacks, and explain itself, then this may be an arduous slog for you. With that said, "Under the Skin" is brilliant in nearly every aspect of filmmaking. Let it take you in, and the modest 108 minute runtime will flash past. I recommend watching when you are not in a hurry and have no specific knowledge of its goings-on. This work is best enjoyed completely cold, in a darkened room, and with the beverage of your choosing. Repeat viewings are encouraged. Please enjoy! "Under the Skin" is widely available to rent or buy digitally and physically, and numerous copies exist via local libraries. Information to help find the films will generally be posted in the description or in the comments on the webpage. During the meetup itself, we discuss the movie, but we don't watch it.
