Have you ever been through a bad breakup where you hated the world AND yourself? This film explores what that's like. It's an anti-romantic comedy by Toronto's very own mathematician turned filmmaker Curt Jaimungal. If you're expecting a v-day rom com with mental health fluff as filler, this event is not for you. We're going to watch the film, talk about mental health, and think about what we as society need to do to support each other and do better. Panelists:
Curt Jaimungal: Filmmaker. Curt is also the Founder of indiefilmTO, Canada's first film incubator! Sakina Rizvi, PhD: Scientist at Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute ASR Suicide and Depression Studies Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital and an assistant professor of psychiatry.
Stephanie Crljen: Psychology undergrad student at Ryerson University and co-leads the Toronto chapter of Project Heal, an organization that raises money for sufferers of eating disorders who are unable to afford treatment.
Lindsay Ofrias: Anthropology PhD Candidate at Princeton University who has traveled around the world to better understand how culture shapes our understanding of who we are and what kind of lives we wish to live.
And moderated by:
Cristina Jaimungal: A PhD student in the Department of Social Justice Education and the University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union (UTGSU) External Commissioner.
