What we're about

The reason you are a part of the group is the passion you have for cinema. There is also a lurking desire to be able to be a part of the movies in some capacity. What has been holding you back is the right kind of team, the invigorating team spirit, the capital or perhaps other priorities. This could be a vehicle to perhaps bring out the creative best in you without letting it impact your busy schedule.

I was wondering whether it would be a good idea for each one of us to share what you would like to specifically do in this group. Would you like to write a screenplay and let someone direct it ? Would you keen to direct a small film if an interesting screenplay came your way ? Would you like to learn as you brainstorm, collaborate with others ? Please share whatever it is that you feel you could do and the amount of time you think you will be able to give on a weekly basis. Anything helps. I am sure , over a period of team, we will find and make our teams. One day you could be climbing the stairs to receive an award and you would know and we would know that it all started here.

Here is a lovely quote that the earlier organiser shared with us :

Artistic freedom means that the amateur filmmaker is never forced to sacrifice visual drama and beauty to a stream of words…to the relentless activity and explanations of a plot…nor is the amateur production expected to return profit on a huge investment by holding the attention of a massive and motley audience for 90 minutes…Instead of trying to invent a plot that moves, use the movement of wind, or water, children, people, elevators, balls, etc. as a poem might celebrate these. And use your freedom to experiment with visual ideas; your mistakes will not get you fired. ~ Maya Deren
