The Community and Ethics Celebration is our new experiment! We are trying to find ways to build a morally intense, social community in which we support one another in improving ourselves and the world around us. There may be some kinks (not the dirty kind) as we try to work out how best to do this in a way that doesn't feel too churchy or contrived--so please come with openness and ideas!
The topic for this weeks celebration is: Is group cohesion a good thing? Can we have a sense of community without it? Is such a community cohesion ethical?
There has been a lot of talk lately about the pros ad cons of ritual in the group. The science about the benefits is pretty clear but the ethical implications are not so clear. Let's talk about it!
I am looking forward to a lively and hopefully uplifting discussion! See you there!
***While children are absolutely welcome, this is not a child-centered event; there may be some mature topics and/or controversial language.
Please submit idea for topics you would like us to incorporate into this series of ethical attentiveness.
Don't forget the after-party in the evening at Al's movie night!
