Fancy trying a totally new skill working with your hands? This one day course enables each student without any previous experience to take home a small beautifully finished wooden bowl that they have made. You will be tutored by a professional trainer who is consistently commended for his energy and commitment to each of his students.

Paul Nesbitt started wood turning 19 years ago but soon realised that not all craftsmen know how to teach. After 3 years he started teaching wood turning at evening classes where he has continued ever since. As his class is the only one in London he is the most experienced trainer in turning in London.

Having first explained the safety considerations, Paul's training method is to break down the project into easy stages, demonstrate the use of the tools and the immediate task and then go round supporting and advising each student as needed, dealing with individual queries and needs until each has a fully finished product they can cherish. You will be amazed at what you can do in five hours even if you have never handled woodworking tools.

Working two people to a lathe (you learn not only by doing but by observing and supporting others) and starting with a blank of a wood such as Black American Walnut you will shape the bowl inside and out before applying the finishing techniques. The colour and lustre of your finished product are achieved more quickly than by hand due to the high rotation speed of the lathe.

Paul has run twenty successful one day courses at this venue and many more at others.
