Betty Fox Band with Damon Fowler and Danielle Nicole at the Ale and the Witch!

Betty Fox brings her soulful self to downtown St. Petersburg along with special guests guitar master Damon Fowler and 2014 Blues Music award winner and 2016 Blues Blast Award nominee for both best new artist debut album (Wolf Den) and best female blues artist for a special Sunday evening performance.

The Betty Fox Band are two time winners of Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay for local blues act Readers Poll and the 2015 representatives of the Suncoast Blues Society for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Where they participated in the finals at the historic Orpheum theatre last January putting them in the top eight blues acts of this renowned international competition.

Damon Fowler following the success of his sixth CD "Sounds of Home" which includes the 2014 Blues Blast magazine Best song of the year nominee "Old Fools, Barstools and Me" (co-written with Eddie Wright) and his recent appearances with blues/roots supergroup Southern Hospitality, Damon has proven himself to be among the best blues artists in the world. In recent years “Best of Tampa” poll, Creative Loafing magazine has named him “Best Guitarist… And Slide Guitarist… and Lap Steel Player… And Dobro Player.”

Danielle Nicole began singing in coffeehouses and at open mic events at age 14, jamming with her parents whenever she could at clubs that would allow minors. At 16, she began singing lead in her father’s band, Little Eva and the Works – until he became too sick to play. In March of 1999, she started her own band, Fresh Brew, with Kansas City music veterans Steve Gronemeyer, Steve Hicks, Chuck Payne and Terry Roney. They performed for four years and even represented Kansas City in the International Blues Challenge.

It was during this time that Danielle and her brothers began talking about a family band that would eventually become Trampled Under Foot. Not only did she have to move to Philadelphia, but she would have to learn the bass guitar to keep it a family band. After several acclaimed self-released albums, Trampled Under Foot released Badlands on July 9, 2013 which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Blues Chart and Trampled Under Foot performed live throughout the United States and Europe in support of the album.

As Trampled Under Foot wound down after 13 years, Danielle formed her own band and now makes her Concord Records solo debut with the September, 2015 release of a New Orleans-flavored, blues-soul based album Wolf Den, featuring GRAMMY®-winning producer-guitarist Anders Osborne, Galactic’s co-founding drummer Stanton Moore and keyboardist Mike “Shinetop, Jr.” Sedovic.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Ale and the Witch, it is a tap house in downtown St. Petersburg with 20 rotating craft beer taps and an outdoor courtyard where music is presented nightly. They also share the courtyard with the Wine Madonna providing a great selection of wines (and an excellent cheese board) and Rollbotto for you sushi fans

We just arrived and it's already pretty crowded. We begged a seat at someone elses table and Kathleen found another small table near the pillar.
