We'll hike 12 miles.
You should be able to hike at a constant speed of 3 MPH for four hours on a mountain bike trail that is full of rocks, roots, "ups and downs".
We'll be hiking in a park that is in the middle of the city, so....don't worry if you can't keep up with the rest of the group, you won't get lost, you will be able to find your way back to your car......or continue on your own. We normally wait for stragglers if there is a real danger for members to get lost....but that is not the case in a park such as Oleta.
In any case......there are plenty of shortcuts that will enable slower hikers to keep up with the group.
We'll limit this outing to 12 hikers in consideration for the mountain bikers...since we'll be sharing the trails with them.
Remember to bring sunscreen, a hat, hiking shoes, plenty of water, snacks and bug repellent.
The park opens at 8:00, we meet at 8:15 and we'll start hiking at 8:20.
Please remember: this is a Hiking group, not a "walking" group, we are not guides and we are not babysitters. The outings I organize are a "meet and hike" events. We meet and then we hike....no speech or anything of the sort...just one rule:The hikers at the end of the line should warn the rest of the group about an "incoming" biker, at that time we all stop and move the the right hand side of the trail and let the biker pass on the left hand side.
See you there.
