Tuesday Morning Outdoors--Native American Stories

Aug 12
Description

TLNC staff and volunteers weave together Native American stories and a nature walk at the Trout Lake Nature Center (520 E. CR 44, Eustis) on Aug. 12 beginning at 11 AM. Native Americans used stories to explain natural occurrences and to teach about the world around them.

You will listen to stories used by the Seminole Indians of Florida and learn a little about the Seminole culture. Then, join former TLNC naturalist and current volunteer Lavon Silvernell on a walk on TLNC’s trails to learn how plants were and are used for medicines, food, and crafts or tools.

This program is open to the public and free to attend. No registration is required. We suggest you bring bug spray, hat and sun screen for the outdoor portion of the program. For more information, contact Eileen Tramontana at 352-357-7536 or tlnc.director@gmail.com.
