Join Florida Trail Association volunteers developing two new miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail.
Description: The Florida National Scenic Trail, or the Florida Trail for short, runs 1,100 miles from Gulf Islands National Seashore near Pensacola to the Big Cypress National Preserve west of Naples. This project is in the Florida Panhandle near Destin. The Florida Trail in Okaloosa and Walton Counties is primarily on the Eglin AFB Reservation or the Nokuse Plantation. This site is on Eglin west of US 331 between DeFuniak Springs and Freeport.
Project – What and Why: Volunteers will help construct a new trail segment. Work will include clearing the trail corridor, grubbing out small trees and brush, clearing roots and trees, and constructing trail structures. This new trail segment will remove two miles from a road walk along busy U.S. Hwy. 331 making it a safer and more scenic route.
