Join Florida Trail Association volunteers in getting the Florida National Scenic Trail in Walton County ready for hikers.

Description: The Florida National Scenic Trail or the Florida Trail for short, runs 1,300 miles from Gulf Islands National Seashore near Pensacola to the Big Cypress National Preserve west of Naples. The Florida Trail in Walton County is primarily on the Eglin AFB Reservation, Northwest Florida Water Management Division lands or the Nokuse Plantation. The work sites for this project are located in Walton County, Florida.

Project – What and Why: Project involves annual trail maintenance, a limited amount of trail construction and reconstruction on the Nokuse Plantation and Northwest Florida Water Management land segments of the Florida National Scenic Trail in Walton County.

Two leisure / personal days are planned for Monday and Thursday, November 16th and 19th. Hikes are planned for both days. Six miles on the 16th and a 10 miler on the 19th. Contact George White for details.

Workdays: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Meals provided: Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 14th thru lunch Saturday, Nov. 21st. Volunteers Shirley Hearn and Charlie Crain will be heading up the kitchen crew.

Free tent camping provided at Pine Log State Forest, Group Campground side A for Friday, Nov. 13 thru Saturday evening, Nov. 21 (leaving NLT 11:00 AM, Nov, 22nd. The Group Campground is wooded, with hot showers and restrooms nearby. The site has a firepit, picnic tables and a small pavilion. A potable water faucets is available nearby. Participants utilizing the Group Campground have to provide their own camping equipment.

RV Campsites: For those wanting a water and electric campsites. RV camping is available at the Sand Pond Campground for ($20 per night). Call[masked] to reserve a campsite.
