• What we'll do January brings new opportunities to the Super MeetUp group. Tired of the same old venue? Then lets head out to Treasure Island and meet up to fly together! Hoping for clear weather, this island will afford us some real glamour shots of both bridges and the SF skyline. Pack light and be ready to be on the move. Expect cool weather and dress in layers. This will be a photo flight event, so leave your race drone at home, come out and fly responsibly. You should insure yourself for this event. Whether you use Verifly app or are an AMA member, please be safe, fly responsibly, and be insured. . Where We'll Meet: We will start at the Intersection of M and N streets, this is a right turn just after you enter the island. There is a large concrete parking lot and that is our fly base for the day. • What to bring Drones, controllers, batteries, warm jacket, lunch? • Important to know Spoke with Werner at SF drones school. He says that the only restrictions are the job corp government buildings, the playing fields, and over people, and that the housing on the back side of the island will elicit phone calls as people feel they are being spied on. Can't go in or near buildings as there is asbestos. He recommends the areas of clipper cove way, avenue N, and avenue of the palms. This is a right turn once you enter the island area.

What we're about

This group is for anyone who is interested in experiencing flying drones and meeting drone enthusiasts. No matter what level of skills you have, we welcome anyone from beginners to hobbyists to join us for a fun drone flying experience. You are welcome to bring you own drone and fly with us.

1) To Nurture and assist new and experienced drone pilots to fly safely and learn new skills.

2) To enjoy flight time and conversation with other drone pilots.

3) To act as a resource for the drone community at large, both amateur and professional

Drone flight insurance is required for any drone flight. We recommend joining the AMA (American modelers association) to take advantage of their member coverage, or using the app VERIFLY DRONE for more extensive protection. These are liability insurers and do not cover drone damage.

We are a friendly group and like to call each other by name, so please be sure when joining that your meetup profile shows a clear picture of just your face. We use this to create our ID badges worn at our events.

Your group leader teaches drone flight and can be a great help to those starting out, or wanting to get a taste of what it is like to take to the skies... ROTORS UP!
