What we're about
Upcoming events (5+)
If you would like to have a taste of international folk dancing to see if you like it, we highly recommend you join us at 7:30 pm on a Friday night for about 20 minutes of introductory teaching. We know it is difficult to walk into a room full of strangers, so our group makes a real effort to help people new to folk dancing feel welcome and comfortable. In this main, Friday night group, we generally teach the same dances all month long, recognizing that it can take a while for the dances to sink in. Afterwards, if you wish, you can stay, join in, or watch as we dance the dances taught in the previous month, and present another, more difficult dance. At 8:30 pm we break for refreshments. Afterwards, the dances you learned in introductory teaching will be repeated. Repetition is one of the keys to learning dances. Throughout the evening we will have a mix of dances, including some you can simply join in, follow along, and have fun with. You don't need to RSVP - most of our dancers don't. For much more helpful information about our friendly group and about international dance, visit our website: PasadenaFolkDanceCoop.org.
Learn dances in a friendly environment. Maria will teach, followed by more dancing. Drop ins are welcome!
This class is a great opportunity to get started folk dancing by attending the introductory class from 6 to 6:30 pm or to learn intermediate dances afterwards, if you have some experience folk dancing. Lee Otterholt is a Master teacher and lot of fun to learn from. Drop in any Wednesday. If you stay after 6:30 pm, you can try the more intermediate class too, or just watch and meet people. Either way, it's a great deal for only $7. Before you go, if you are not a resident of Laguna Woods, be sure to call Miriam [masked]) to get gate clearance.
