Kayak Huntington Harbor & Indian Buffet Lunch

  • Jul 1, 2007 · 9:30 AM
  • Sunset Rentals

Okay boys and girls, let's stretch the limits of our Foodie group! We'll kayak around Huntington Harbor for 2-3 hours and then afterwards head over to a nearby Indian Buffet in H.B. This place has good reviews. $9 + drinks/tax/tip. After burning about 1000 calories kayaking, I'm sure we'll get our money's worth at the buffet line. Join our Floatilla of Kayaks of about 50-60 Foodies as this has been cross posted with a couple other groups. Let's Meetup at 9:30am, yeah I know it's early and we'll paddle our biceps off. I have a digital camera and a waterproof housing so we'll get lots of fun pics of this event. Cost is about $7 for the rental plus the cost of your meal will be 15 bucks including tax and tip. We've done this kayaking with over 30 people and it is FUN! We'll kayak around Huntington Harbor for 2-3 hours and then afterwards head over to a nearby Indian Buffet in Newport Beach. This place has good reviews. $15 including champagne/drinks/tax/tip. After burning about 1000 calories kayaking, I'm sure we'll get our money's worth at the buffet line. Let's Meetup at 9:30am, at the kayak place. Yeah I know it's early and we'll casually paddle our biceps off. I have a digital camera and a waterproof housing so we'll get lots of fun pics of this event. Rain Cancels. The cost is $7.00 for 4 hours. This includes a life jacket, if you want to use one. Recommended clothing includes shorts, t-shirt, or tank top, whatever's comfy and you don't mind getting wet. Wear sandals, flip flops, or water shoes. Tennis shoes are not suggested as they will most likely get wet. I suggest bringing along two ziploc baggies for your keys that have alarm controls or you can leave them with Ken. Also don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat if you desire, and water. Sunset Rentals, 16862 Pacific Coast Hwy., Sunset Beach 90742 Telephone[masked] Kayak rentals is $7.00 per person single or doubles. It is the two story building. I have kayaked in this harbor several times you can't get lost if you decide to venture on your own for a longer ride or tougher workout...there will even be maps of the harbor available. After Kayaking then we'll drive over to the restaurant for an all you can eat buffet as our reward for getting some exercise. The original place Bukhara is now too small for our 80+ peeps who have rsvp'ed for this event, so we will go to their new and much larger restaurant called Saagar and I spoke to the owners and they will give a little group discount and add some extras and they promise to make us all very happy! So they agreed to accept $15.00 for their champagne brunch and that price includes tax, tip and champagne or other drinks. I really enjoyed kayaking around the harbor. Although I ended up meeting locals, I wish there were badges that foodies would've worn, so I wouldn't have kayaked solo in the beginning!

The Foodie Floatilla was a blast! First time I've kayaked in a triple kayak so we were a party on paddles! I carpooled with 4 lovely foodies... how cool is that!!! The Indian Buffet was EXCELLENT! Too bad we were so far from home, I was stuffed from the food, but I could have drank a lot more champagne if I wasn't the driver. The girl talk on the way back was... priceless!!! I now feel like one of the girls... LOL
