You may not sign up for this foraging class if you signed up for the Spring foraging class - foraging classes have limited class space so that participants can actually hear and see what is going on and we're limiting participation to one class/member.
Ron Fischer will lead us on a wonderful Fall morning identification and foraging adventure!
Ron is an experienced forager who has been foraging since he was 18. Initially inspired by reading Euell Gibbon's book 'Stalking the Wild Asparagus', Ron has spent the last 25 years learning, locating, identifying, and eating!
Ron will bring plant samples to show, touch, and taste. Plants likely to be covered include dandelion, burdock, amaranth, lambs quarters, dock, and plantain. You'll learn positive identification and some cooking methods and suggestions. An outdoor plant walk will end the teaching portion of Ron's class.
Ron is good friends with the Howenstine family, the proprietors of Pioneer Tree Farm. Pioneer Tree Farm is an organic Christmas tree farm and our group's favorite location for classes.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and for outdoors activity. Class will be held regardless of the weather.
Please consider bringing something to share during our traditional post-class potluck mingle & buffet. We'll provide the plates, cups, and silverware - you bring the food and talk.
