What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in astronomy, stargazing, astrophotography, solar observing, lunar observing, etc. All skills levels are welcome from those that like to look at the moon to those that have interest in deep dives into the physics that makes the cosmos work. Our Monthly meetings are open to the public as is all our public outreach events. Feel free to come join us, we are looking forward to exploring the universe with everybody.

Our meetings are family friendly. Since we do talk astronomy, we promise anything you may learn is a complete accident :)

Ford Amateur Astronomy Club Monthly Meeting

Have you ever looked at the night sky and wondered whats out there? Ever look at distant stars and imagine if life exists beyond our planet? Ever wonder how the universe works, how stars are formed and how our solar system began. If you answer yes to any of these then you should join an astronomy club. The Henry Ford Amateur Club is a group of like minded and curious group of amateur astronomers who want to explore the universe and share their knowledge of space and astronomy with each other and with the public. We are very active in public outreach and active in the community. We hold monthly meeting at Henry Ford College at 7PM which are open to the public so feel free to come along to our meetings. This months main talk is: Space Ghosts by Jenny Pon Jenny will be sharing pictures of space ghosts (nebulas and galaxies) and telling space ghost stories (stellar evolution) this evening. Come celebrate Halloween in an astronomical way! Title: Fellow / Great Lakes Planetarium Association Bio: Jenny has over 30 years of work experience in the planetarium field. She worked in planetariums with 50-foot domes in East Lansing, Pittsburgh and Detroit. She has earned professional recognition as a Fellow of the Great Lakes Planetarium Association. She continues her astronomy outreach with the Farmington Community Stargazers and at the Grand Canyon Star Party and Sierra Club - Michigan Chapter retreat.
