What do you hope to get from this meetup?

I hope to find like-minded friends who want to get fitter and healthier and to avoid illnesses and/or to repair after illnesses. I want to reduce the inflammation in my body using diet to help keep me healthy. I want to get fitter, and would love to share the journey and lifestyle with like-minded friends.. We can help each other and our friends and families if they want our help, if they see our results. It certainly won't hurt them. (Last year my blood test results proved this. You can be healthier too. Lower your blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol, etc. and your health risks. Really. Research studies with real people show this. Our "regular boxed and fast foods" are not helping us become healthy for the most part.

How did you find us?

I started the group, but I found the first book quite by chance, I believe, about ten years ago. I am not a newbie jumping on a trend. This happens to be a time in my life when I am off dairy for the first time in my life!!! I'm doing well. This week I've lost 3 pounds, but I have not been losing much recently. I can work on this more by throwing in a few more salads rather than raw nut snacks. It turns out a previous diet that I did about 12 years ago was actually version of the paleo diet! Meat and veggies mostly, but that one focused on being low carb too. I did get healthier though. And, I worked out quite a bit...This Paleo Diet has allowed me to lose weight without exercising. I want people to exercise to get fit, but when I lacked energy, or for people who are aching or too heavy, it is a good way to begin to lose weight. You can add in exercise slowly a few steps at a time and build up. It has worked for me. It should be able to work for you too.

What would you like to contribute to the group?

I'd like to help others get excited about the Paleo possibilities and to help us generate creativity as a group to think up good ideas for get-to-gethers and meal ideas for us to make when we are on our own or to take to functions when we meet with non-Paleo people...

Are you new to Paleo?

I've known about Paleo for about 10 years, but have been on the Paleo Diet with dairy since July, 2012, with a break in November to add some occasional wheat, until March, 2013, got better, but added major amounts of chocolate until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Did not gain weight, but stayed the same while wanting to lose weight! Now am on a non-dairy, non-chocolate program and some weight is coming off which is the plan! This is due to my reading the latest about dairy in the "Paleo Answers" book!

How long have you been Paleo? (Thanks for answering.)

I read Dr. Loren Cordain's first book, "The Paleo Diet" about 10 years ago. I related to it. I now use "The Paleo Answer" to help me maintain my weight and have an anti-inflammatory diet as I have an auto-immune disease.
