What we're about

The work we do in this group is developed from the Men's Group Field Guide but is influenced by Mankind Project, the works of David Deida, the book The New Manhood, the book Knights Without Armour and wise texts such as The Bible, Tao te Ching and others. Men's work is more than just getting together and talking about feelings or just getting together with dudes and hanging out. It's about addressing real life issues with wisdom, respect, integrity and humor in the company of men who you can count on and trust to be there for you every time it matters. It's about dropping the act and being genuine in the presence of men who will respect you more for doing so. It's about choosing to take action when you see a change needs to be made to make yourself a better man for yourself, your partner, your children, your family and your friends. In this men's group, that is what we do.

If you're curious, here are a couple questions you can ask yourself:

Not sure where you're going in life but sure there's something more?

Have big desires but feel like you're always falling back into the same patterns that hold you back from living big?

Are you ready to have friends in your life that you know you can count on instead of dudes you just drink with?

Are you ready to live bigger in your relationships with women, money, God and REAL friends?

In today's American culture men are taught that what it means to be a man is to have lots of money, lots of pretty girls, a big house, a lot of cars and a big cock. Don't get me wrong, these things might make your life more interesting but I've watched men who chase these things live feeling completely unfulfilled in their lives. Why? Because what the lack is authenticity and being connected to their purpose. Because these men do not spend their time around men friends who refuse to let them live small. Because these men don't fully live their purpose and lead when they see an opportunity to step up. Because these men choose women for the wrong reasons and then end up surprised and frustrated when all of their relationships with woman fail. Because these men do not live consistent in their words and actions but instead have hollow words and actions that leave them with a hollow existence and hollow relationships.

Some of the points we touch on in this group:

• What it means to live with purpose.

• How to know when you are living with purpose.

• How to find and choose a woman who is a good match for you.

• How to choose career paths that are consistent with your purpose that make you feel fulfilled.

• Why it's important to have men friends who you can count on who refuse to live small and refuse to let you live small.

• How to understand women better to get what you want out of your relationships.

Our relationship/connection to God-this is not about a specific religion, and all faiths are welcome so long as you believe there is something bigger than you in this universe.

Tools and techniques to get past big emotional and psychological blocks that prevent us from achieving the sort of success (in relationships, career or even personal goals) we'd like to achieve.

Most of the structure of the meetings will be based on the Men's Group Field Guide and The New Manhood. If you have always known something was missing from your relationship with your father and your relationships with men and to yourself, you will get a lot out of these books and meeting with us. So, don't hesitate to reach out so you can find out what you will get out of this group.

All men in the group have something different to offer and are encouraged to bring it to the group. All men in the group are leaders and are encourage to be. All men in the group are committed to their own personal growth and choosing to live big. We teach each other and simply (yet profoundly) choose to be better fathers, sons, brothers and husbands each and every day. While we are a group of men of varying faiths, ethnicities, skin color, height, age, political viewpoints and background this group is for men who simply refuse to live small.

**This meetup has only just begun a little over a month ago. We have already met a couple times and we intend to continue meeting. We will be doing fun things that will include anything from going to the shooting range to hiking/camping to, if we can squeeze it in, football games and professional fights. Just because we're men who want to live authentically doesn't mean we can't laugh and have a good time doing men stuff. :)

In this event and those to follow, we will cover the ground rules to this men's group. The foundation of what we do is outlined in The Men's Group Field Guide, an awesome source of pointing men in the direction of creating an environment of stability and structure, as well as mutual respect and understanding. Men's groups are pretty uncommon so we will be going over this step-by-step so that it doesn't come as a surprise or awkward how we proceed. There is nothing you need to bring except for an open mind and willingness to step outside of the cultural norms of what it means to be a man in today's society. It's not about your car, how much money you make or how many women you've slept with. It's not about how big your career is or how much stuff you own. It's about integrity. It's about following through on your word. It's about accountability. And it's about knowing that there are other men you can count on to hold you and themselves accountable while you do the same. There is a massive deficit of this in this world. I'm only creating a place for it to happen for a select group of men who care enough to have good men in their lives. Once we have covered enough of the Men's Group Field Guide, we will dive into the book The New Manhood, which is a phenomenal resource for men who want to grow beyond the lies they've been taught about what it means to be a man. There's something to be said for achieving things in your life but there's something much greater to be said for men who choose to place integrity and accountability at the center of everything they do and choose to surround themselves with men who do the same.
