Local Search Domination

Many business owners have the primary concern of improving their local search. Local search has evolved a lot in the last few years and doing SEO for local search is not the same as SEO for an online business. Google knows when your search phrase is intended for a local business and will use a different set of ranking factors and filters to determine what businesses to show the user. In Local Search communities, you will hear the term Local Pack and Snack Pack used to describe the graphical maps window displaying the top results for the local search.

The above search for "emergency plumber" shows a sponsored ad followed by the Google Snack Pack. Below that will be the organic listings and maybe more sponsored ads at the bottom. Studies show that with the layout above (https://moz.com/blog/the-new-snack-pack-where-users-clicking-how-you-can-win) that Paid Clicks get 19%, Top Three get 44%, More Places 8%, and Organic (the remaining listings down the page) get 29%.

Most verticals have twenty or more unique searches that are being used in their area by customers looking for their product or service. Good local visibility is being in the top 3 for all of the relevant searches, not just a few. Our goal in Local SEO is to bring in more customers. We do this by identifying the relevant searches that the business has no visibility on and applying Google approved methods to improve ranking on those searches.

Getting The Most From Our Meetup

If you have never been to one of our meetups it helps if you can provide your Business Name that you have registered with Google. If you have not claimed your free business listing on google (https://www.google.com/business/) then do so. Even if you do not have a physical business location (say you are a speaker or consultant that works online and do not have clients come to your location). You still can register your business and get a very powerful link to your website.

Knowing your Business Name in advance will allow us time to get some reports ready for you that will show you how your business is ranking for relevant local search terms. We get these local search terms using Googles Keyword Planner (https://adwords.google.com/home/tools/keyword-planner/). Then plug them along with your business name into Bright Local (http://bit.ly/BrightLocalFreeTrial) which will produce very accurate reports showing how your measure up for local search on the keywords provided.

These reports show not only how your rank in comparison to your competitors but will also show important ranking factors metrics of the top 10 businesses competing for those search terms. Seeing the metrics of the top 10 in comparison to your own will help us determine the best strategy to improve your visibility in the search results.
