Softball Night in Canada #9
What to bring: a glove (we have spares), favorite beverage, fun attitude. Bats are always welcome. We collect a participation fee of $5 per game at the end of the evening, or $40 for the full season. This covers field rental, insurance, equipment, etc. The sign-up page opens early Monday preceding each Thursday night game. Our insurance allows 24 players on the field. This also ensures everyone gets reasonable playing time. So the RSVP is first-come first-served. If you RSVP and don't show up, thus depriving someone else of a spot, we'll get mad. If you do it more than once, we may not let you play anymore. So if you say yes, and then can't go - BE SURE TO CANCEL YOUR RSVP! Got it? Good. Other than that, we're really easygoing folks... Most nights we head out to a local pub after the game, where we brag about our exceptional athletic achievements, stuff our faces and get to know one another.

What we're about

GREAT SOFTBALL, BUT EMPHASIS IS ON FUN.

Well, another season is in site. Our first game for 2018 is Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 pm. Some background about us:

The Foulies originated years ago as a league softball team - known then as the Foul Balls. After making the playoffs (which was a minor miracle - we checked to see if Hell had frozen over) and then wringing our hands about winning, we realized there was just too much pressure that interfered with more important things like socializing, beverage enjoyment and just having a good time in the sunshine. Thus we decided to play weekly pick-up games with anybody welcome, no matter what their skill level. We have absolute beginners who have never played, up to more serious and skilled players. This creates a great mix and some surprisingly competitive games with good play. But the emphasis is truly on fun, meeting new people and enjoying summer/fall evenings.

We supply three of the four B's: Bats, Balls and Bases. Members supply the fourth B. If you need a glove, we have spares. And someone will happily loan you a glove when their side is up to bat.

We play evening games until late September, or whenever the weather and waning light chase us into hibernation. Post-game food/drinks at a local pub.

$5 per game donation (or $40 for the season) to help cover field costs, insurance, equipment, Meetup page fees etc.
