• #CodingNight: open session and 'Digital Quality of Life' special

    "Die Zentrale" Coworking

Let's go into the next round :) As usual: bring along your laptop, your friend, your cool new projects and don't forget your curiosity for new technologies, frameworks and programming languages. #CodingNight is as always open to anyone, from beginners to students, to coders with years of experience, employees and freelancers. Code is what unites us! :) -----SPECIAL----- Furthermore we got a special this time about Digital Quality of Life (Gut leben digital). Dr. Stefan Bergheim (https://twitter.com/StefanBergheim), Director of 'Zentrum für gesellschaftlichen Fortschritt e. V. (http://www.fortschrittszentrum.de/de/)' will give a small presentation about this topic. Everybody is welcome to join the discussion with him afterwards! Here is some more information: How can we shape digitalisation to improve our quality of life as much as possible?" This is probably the most important question of our times. It guides the new, two-year dialogue process "Gut leben digital” (Digital Quality of Life). Stefan Bergheim, the project-lead and head of the non-profit think-tank “Center for Societal Progress” will spend an hour with us to harvest the collective intelligence of the Frankfurt coding community on this question. The insights will be used in the next steps of the process. More at www.gutlebendigital.de -----SPECIAL----- For those who want to code...we have several toys to play around with: • One RaspberryPi • Estimote Beacons • One Sphero Robot Ball Feel free to play around with new things, meet new people and spend a nice Friday evening with beer, pizza and the Coding Night family. :) Looking forward seeing you! • #CodingNight feat. CodeDoor feat. Refugees

    "Die Zentrale" Coworking

This time we're going to do a special and are going to co-op with CodeDoor ( http://www.codedoor.org ). CodeDoor is a program which has the goal to teach refugees to code. We at the CodingNight thought this so cool and wanted to support this awesome movement. So we're devoting this special CodingNight to them and the refugees. This CodingNight will be about coding with the refugees together and show them cool stuff in form of small workshops (the number of workshop participants should be around 3-4 people). The Agenda for this evening • Pavlos Giannakis: General intro of the Coding Night • Gurdip Mudhar: CodeDoor.org and its vision • Gemma Gotch: Lightning Talk on "How to get a job as a coder" • Short presentation of each workshop and gathering around each workshop lead • Workshops (see below) Here are the workshops we've so far (refugees first, if there is still space in the workshop non-refugees can join): • Nazim Kenan: Scripting Wifi power sockets • Markus Tacker: Intro to git/github • Indraneel Pole: Intro to RaspberryPi • Kevin Gimbel: Creating a Website with GitHub and Jekyll • Andrea Rossi: 3D Printing • Tri Nhan Vu: Intro to SCRUM • Uli Merkel: Handling pizza orders project with node.js In case you've a cool idea for a another workshop, please let us know and we're going to put you on the agenda (some ideas: raspberryPi, Arduinos, creating a Website in 5 hours, creating an iOS/Android app in 5 hours, ...) . If you just want to hack on your projects as usual, no problem. We've all the space for us and we can use also the other rooms at the "Zentrale". Thanks to them for that! So looking forward to interesting workshop topics, as well as coding with you in a relaxed and chilled atmosphere, without any pressure...and of course with a beer and pizza! :) ADticket (www.adticket.de (https://www.adticket.de/)) will sponsor this event! BIG THANKS to them! So drinks, beer and pizza is on them! :) We wanted already to say "thank you" to those people who are willing to do a workshop for the refugees! THANK YOU A LOT! We really appreciating your effort and commitment! Looking forward seeing you! Code on and #RefugeesWelcome The Coding Night Team
