Beep-beep! Beep-beep! Mid Atlantic Cohousing's Annual Bus Tour!

  • May 19, 2012 · 9:00 PM

Join a cheery band of folks just like you desiring to learn more about cohousing!

How does this innovative community model really work?

You've been interested in cohousing for a long time.  Now's the time to check out!

Why not get a group and do this together?

Each year, Mid Atlantic Cohousing sponsors a tour of several of its member communities.

The tour gives you an opportunity to learn more about cohousing firsthand. You will visit a variety of cohousing types -- rural, suburban and urban, small and very large, with differing types of governance, decision-making and workshare systems -- but all with the common theme of people living in community and being good neighbors.

A day like this is the fastest way to learn about cohousing up close and personal. The cohousing communities you will visit are also some of the "greenest" communities in the country including the first LEED certified silver community of privately owned homes in the U.S.

A tour guide accompanies the group for the entire day. And, at each community participants are greeted by a host who guides the group around the neighborhood. Q&A highly encouraged!

There are only 30 seats on the bus. This highly anticipated tour sells out fast. For details on the activities for the day and to register, go to the MAC website.

Don't miss the early bird discount!

And don't miss the APRES TOUR WINE AND CHEESE GET-TOGETHER! Please join us after the tour for some wine and cheese, socializing and chilling out after the tour event.

BIG NOTE: You MUST register on the MAC website to be registered for the bus! Signing up via Meet Up does NOT get you a seat on the bus!

See you on the bus or at one of the communities!

Yes. Cohousing is a very balanced lifestyle. It's a lovely way to live. I totally recommend it. As I said ... staying on the Meet Up is the best way to learn what's going on in cohousing in the area. Info will be posted there first!! :-)

Thank you Ann for your reply. I really want a "balanced" lifestyle and cohousing fits the bill. Please keep me in mind if anything materializes around Franklin, NC. Best to you for all you are doing.

Hi Susan! Just wrote a reply to you about this on the Sanctuary Village Meet Up. In short ... the recession hit the cohousing project very hard. Hopefully, w/ the economics turning around we will see some activity in the Franklin, NC area. Do stay on the Sanctuary Meet up == best way to learn what's going on in cohousing in the area! A most excellent bus tour! Thirty eight intrepid souls showed up before 9 a.m. for a full day tour of four cohousing communities plus two presentations on two additional communities. The day was capped off by a wine and cheese get together. I totally enjoyed meeting every single person! There wasn't nearly enough time to talk to each one. A couple of people have indicated they are ready to buy into a community as soon as possible. Others are ready to start communities and still others are taking back what they have learned to their own forming communities and sharing the insights they have learned into what makes cohousing work. Thank you to one and all who made this event possible. Till next year ... keep growing those communities!

    Best --
