"Get a Week's Worth of Food!" Vegan Meal Swap

Want a great way to get some meals for a week and try new foods?

WHAT YOU DO: It's easy! Just make one large dish and divide it into seven containers (tupperware, ziplock bags, etc).

WHAT YOU GET: Seven individual dishes to take home and enjoy throughout the week!

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

Each attendee should bring with them one large dish, divided into seven dinner-sized and individually-packaged portions. It can be an entrée or side dish, and should be vegan so that everyone can enjoy it regardless of their diet. (No desserts please, so we don't each end up taking home more sweets than we can handle!) Each of us will then swap those servings for seven individual dishes brought by other attendees.

To make distribution fair, each serving will be provided a number and we'll pick the numbers like a lottery - what you leave with will be dependent on the numbers you get.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

Location: The Community Room in downtown Frederick's C Burr Artz Library.

Timing: Attendees should arrive promptly at 3pm so we can distribute the numbers and start dividing up dishes. Arriving on time is important, or else you risk missing out when the food is divided up. :)

Allergies: If you're concerned about any specific food allergies, this might not be the event for you (since dishes will be distributed at random).

Also...remember to bring a box, bag or cooler to take your bounty home with you!

Of course! You can change your RSVP to indicate you are bringing a "plus one". The more the merrier! :)

Help.... There is now a Zumba Fundraiser for the Lillard Family , I have to show my support, such horrific grief.
Sunday, February 17,[masked]:00pm until 4:00pm. Family Fundraiser for the Lillard Family
Our community continues to grieve after a fast-moving house fire claimed the lives of two young sisters and destroyed the family’s home in Myersville. Please join us to raise money for the Lillard Family.
    Cash donation: $20.00 (we'll accept more ;))

And I need to be @ Cafe Nola to volunteer for Annapurna's Kitchen Vegetarian pay-as-you-can @4Pm as well.

So give me ideas...can I leave my'swaps'with someone or somewhere and pick up whatever is left later? Just trying to figure out how to support both very noteworthy causes as best as possible and still be part of this.

Hi Diane - That's so nice of you to be helping with the fundraiser, and with Annapurna's Kitchen! Unfortunately, I think the logistics of coordinating the meal swap without actually being there may be difficult (we only have the room for a little bit, folks will already have a lot to carry with 7 containers each, etc). But no worries if you have to miss it - it's for good causes! And we'll no doubt be doing more of these if this one goes well. :)

Are we supposed to be bringing 7 packages that serve 1 or something different?

Seven different packages, each of which is one serving. (So, basically, make a 7-serving-sized dish and then divide it into 7 containers.)

I'm going to make 8 servings and eat one and bring the other 7! Can't wait to see what you bring, Elin, your food is always amazing!

Hi! I am so excited to attend. I see the note about food allergies but I really want to come anyway :) My son is allergic to cashews and pistachios so if one of those is an ingredient we just won't share with him. But I wanted to put a feeler out there to see if anyone is planning to make a tree-nut free meal. Can't wait to meet you all. Thanks.

I was thinking of making a dish with pine nuts... Is that considered a tree nut?

Maybe you can attend and, if you get something with cashews or pistachios in it, try to trade someone for a different dish.
