Dwinelle Hall

LOCATION ANNOUNCED: 250 Dwinelle Hall, UC Berkeley - see map png in photos section below. We meet Tuesdays 7pm in 250 Dwinelle Hall on beautiful UC Berkeley campus! (meetup's location widget can't find this location, so we'll ignore it) GETTING HERE: Walking from famous Sproul Plaza, walk under famous Sather Gate. Dwinelle is a very large building to your Left. Go up the two sets of steps, through the doors, make a left. Take the stairs up to Floor E. Find 250. If you're new to Dwinelle, please aim to get there early. We start setting up for class and chatting at 6:30. --- All are welcome: students and non-students alike. Beginners and experienced meditation practitioners too. This class is for you if: • You want to be successful in your studies, career and/or athletics • You simply want more balance in your daily life and relationships • You want to feel happy a lot more often! • You want to relish in life in all of its FULLNESS, unobscured by heavy thinking mind • You truly want to give to others... Being bright and balanced, especially in the most difficult situations, puts you in a unique position to be of service to others. What to Expect: In each seminar, we will meditate as a group. The type of meditation I teach is particularly powerful and will help you find deep inner peace. From that peace, a focus and productivity grows from within, as a great tree springs from seed. In between our two short meditations, I will discuss topics surrounding living, working and thriving in modern-day Bay Area, from both Buddhist and modern psychology perspectives. In this class: I will give you everything you need to begin (or to reinvigorate) your home meditation practice. After your first class, I will give you 2 free meditation music albums, which are specifically designed to help you go deeper. Music is not necessary for meditation, but it sure helps in this busy, noisy world. In my view, Buddhism is more of a psychology than a religion and is accessible to people of all belief systems, both religious and non-religious. About the teacher: Chitananda has been meditating for over 15 years under the guidance of teachers in a rich Indo-Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist tradition. He has applied the bountiful teachings of Buddhism and Zen in several arenas of modern-day American life, as a: • Sr. Software Developer for the largest Tech Companies in Silicon Valley (current) • Martial Artist of 10 years: Jiu-jitsu, Shotokan Karate, Tai Chi (current) • Business professional (past) • Student at UC Berkeley (Class of '06) Chitananda attributes his success as a student at Cal to his daily meditation practice, and he is excited to share meditation with any sincere student who wants to learn.
