IMPORTANT

Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. It is not organized by a business nor any entity with commercial purposes.
Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader".
Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen.
Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-)
By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer.

Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips:
http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/

TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel and (if required) accommodation - this gives everyone the freedom and choice to join from wherever they want and stay wherever they want. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.

ABOUT THE GROUP
This Meetup group was founded by a few friends in London who enjoy the outdoors through different activities - walking, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking etc. We are originally members of the volunteer and bilingual Toastmasters club RES "Russian English Speakers" where we put together a few day walks - they attracted so many people that we decided to share our hobby with a broader audience, hence we created this new group!

All thanks goes to the organiser for making great events and for free. Other hiking group charge really high prices. But its good to know there are groups like this that do walks completley for free.

Looks like it's going to be a chilly day tomorrow with some sunshine in the afternoon. But luckily, there are some hills en route that will keep us warm (and we will climb the first hill of the day with a 100+ m climb just after leaving the station). I'd also like to keep the lunch stop fairly short, so please only pack a light/quick lunch. As daylight is limited we should be in the pub late afternoon anyway (hopefully before sunset which is around 4 pm).

Please be on time (8.50) if you want to join a GroupSave ticket (meet close to the Nero Express closest to the ticket machines and platform 11).

Hi Christof, I can't seem to link to the questionnaire. The description part of the walk just keeps disappearing on me. I'll be there and all prepared. See you at 8:45am Victoria station.

Hi Christof, please would you be able to wait 10 mins at Otford? I recall on previous walks it takes about this time for people to go for toilet breaks, coffees at the station etc. Would be really helpful as then I can get a direct train from Peckham :)

    • Christof

Sorry, but I might have to disappoint you... On the last walk we were walking within 4 minutes of the train arriving (according to my GPS data)... And given the current temperatures I really like to get moving as soon as possible... (and it would be maybe 15 people waiting for 1 in the cold...)

We generally meet up at the meeting point at the station and then buy the group tickets. You just need to get there at the requested time.

Hi. I live in Sevenoaks so will not go to Victoria. Rather could I meet you at the destination station which I assume is Otford? Please confirm. Thanks.

    • Christof

Sure, we should arrive at Otford station at 9.56.
