What we're about

9 Reasons to join a choir ( adapted from theodysseyonline.com (https://www.theodysseyonline.com/) )
(and Join Today!)

• 1. It's a great place to make friends.

• 2. You don't need to have the voice of Andrea Bocelli to have a great time.

• 3. Music is stress-relieving.

• 4. You don't have to wait for a wedding or Oscar nomination to wear a tuxedo or a gown.

• 5. Choirs perform all kinds of music, not just classical.

• 6. You get to travel to cool places (like Carnegie Hall).

• 7. You don't need to know how to read music.

• 8. No expensive instruments required.

• 9. Choir geeks are the best people in the world.

I have a passion for choirs and choral music. I am the music director at First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, NJ. There are 3 choirs at FPC.
- CHANCEL CHOIR - sings most Sunday morning services. Performs a wide genre of music from classical to contemporary. Rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm till 8:30 pm
- COMMUNITY CHOIR - For the past five years we have helped premiere brand new contemporary music (about to be published) to a packed house at Carnegie Hall. For many of our members, this is their first time singing on the world's most famous stage. In addition, the group will be going back to Carnegie on May 2, 2018 to sing with composer/arranger Bradley Knight, Avalon and Voices of Lee. It's not too late to sign up for this group. Practice cds and rehearsal tracks are distributed to all singers. Rehearsals are on Fridays and will resume after the 1st of the year.
- INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS- For those who enjoy playing instruments, we have the Freehold Youth Ensemble, consisting mostly of area high school students and some adults who enjoy playing their instruments to help with congregational singing. Contact me for more information.
- HANDBELLS - We have 5 octave bells and 4 octave chimes. Always looking for new ringers. No experience needed, we will train. We rehearse Sunday mornings at 11:30 in the FPC sanctuary.
-COMMUNITY STUDENT BELLS - Newly formed group for High School students. Ring 5 octave bells and 4 octave chimes. We meet Mondays from 6:00 pm till 7:00 pm.
Come to our "Meet the Bells" night on Monday September 16 at 6:00 pm
-COMMUNITY BELLS (ADULT) - Newly formed group for beginner ringers. No experience necessary. Learn to ring 5 octaves of bells and 4 octaves of chimes. We will be meeting on Mondays from 7:30 pm till 9:00 pm. Come to our "Meet the Bells" night on Monday September 16 at 7:30 pm
