People often aren't willing to pay for apps. Most people monetize off of ads, and looking at the numbers of freemium using apps, where you're lucky if 5% of users are in the paying section, that and in-app purchases make sense. But in-app purchases and ads feel unprofessional, so I'm interested in learning more about freemium. The ideal monetization strategy I am vying for in the long run is like Duolingo's: use user data, but for good rather than just to sell them crap.

No. I met Francis Dinha recently and he told me to come by. I'd love to hear about whether anyone has had success with hybrid freemium/in-app pricing models. i.e. Freemium will get you features a, b, and c. Or buy feature c now for $0.70…
