Get the most out of your 3D printer!

This class is an advanced 3D printing usage and maintenance class. This class is oriented towards experienced 3D printer operators and those who own a 3D printer and are looking for a guided workshop to understand and dial in printer settings. We will be working on Freeside's RepRap printer "The Kraken" to demonstrate, but it is strongly recommended that you bring in your own 3D printer for this class!

This class will be approximately 4-6 hours of demonstration, lecture, and hands on tuning of your own equipment. Due to the nature of the class and the extended one-on-one segment where we will go over your own printer’s hardware and software configuration, this class will be limited to a small size.

It is also recommended that you bring in a laptop or computer that you use to interface and print with, along with any necessary cables and filament. Your printer will be used for printing during this class, so come prepared!

In this class we will go over the following topics regarding construction, maintenance, tuning of firmware and software, and upkeep of your printer:

• Disassembly, upkeep, and reassembly of the extruder cold and hot ends
• Leveling and prepping print surface
• Tuning your printer firmware (Marlin printers recommended!)
• Tuning your printer settings and speeds
• In-depth discussion and tuning of printer profile settings
• Personal one-on-one printer calibration for your printer

It is recommended, but not required, that you have taken our Introduction to 3D Printing class to familiarize yourself with concepts and use of open source printer driving and slicing software.

Note: Closed source or “plug it in and press go” printers will likely not benefit from this class. Please check with me with your printer type before registering for the class if you are unsure if your printer will benefit from this class. Examples of these types of printers include but are not limited to the following printer families: MakerBot, 3D Systems, daVinci

The class will have a short break at 3pm for lunch.
