Satisfy your need to MAKE!

Do you feel the need? the need to MAKE? Make something out of wood? Start learning and doing woodworking!

Dave Alvarez has decades of experience in woodworking and fine cabinetry. Join him and other students at Freeside, and make a classic, useful tote. It will serve to tote tools, gardening supplies, pretty much anything. It will also serve well as an accent, whether holding magazines, flowers, knitting supplies...

Plans for a simple tote will be available, and Dave will also be happy to help students design and work on other designs.

Take a look at some of David's work, and some variations on what you will be able to make, in the photos below.

This initial class will involve both LEARNING and DOING. You will learn plenty, and make a great start.

A student of one of Dave's earlier classes wrote:

"This was a really enjoyable class, and my foot-stool turned out great. I was worried that it might be a bit too basic for me, because I have some previous experience, but I learned quite a bit, even about tools I was already familiar with.

The class did take longer than it was scheduled for, which I personally considered a plus. Dave really took the time to give everyone personal attention and individual feedback, and his easygoing manner made everyone really confident in what they were doing.

His years of experience in his craft really showed, and I'm looking forward to taking some more classes with him."

Please note: This class is over two days, since drying time is involved overnight.

Please also note: the price for this class is based on using Eastern White Pine. If you would like to bring your own wood, or make alternate arrangements, please coordinate with Dave.

For safety's sake, please remember to wear close-fitting clothing, and be prepared to control long hair during the event.
