Salut a tous - I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to send out a quick e-mail.
On behalf of a student exchange. Several months ago I received an e-mail from a non-profit that (in their words):
"The aim of this and all our programs is to promote intercultural understanding, to help our French students improve their level of spoken English and allow them to experience American culture first hand. Equally, it is hoped that our American host children and parents will find the experience of hosting a teenager from France an enriching and interesting one, and that bonds of friendship will be forged along the way. Many times our families and students form such close ties that the connection lasts well beyond the length of the ?homestay?. Oftentimes, our US host children are invited back to France to visit their new friends. As an organisation we very much encourage this exchange aspect of our programs, and if it should arise that your child would like to stay with your French student but this is not possible, for whatever reason, we will guarantee to arrange an alternative host family in France and act as a contact during your child's stay."http://www.educulture.org/become-a-host-family/index.asp
I got a call today that they are short two host families - if you, or someone you know, would be in a position to host either a 14 y/old or 18 y/old French boy from 1 (that's this Friday!) August - 22 August - please let me know ASAP.
The boys will need to be housed either in the area of Newton Center (or close to a commuter rail line) or in Brookine (or close to the metro!)
