Fresh Ground Stories: Second Best or You Can’t Always Get What You Want

Remember that last time you wanted something so bad and you didn’t get it? Or you wanted someone so bad and they didn’t want you? Great feeling, huh? I feel that way a lot. In fact, I could probably do a whole show about all the times I didn’t get what I wanted. But since my therapist says I’m supposed to focus on lesson and not the loss I’m going to let you guys do the talking.

For this show we’re looking for stories about the times you weren’t good enough. As always, the topic is as broad as you want it to be. It could be a story of complete failure or falling just short. It can be about love, work, friendship, parenting, art, whatever it is that broke your heart or made you think that you couldn’t or didn’t measure up.

Practice a few times on your cats or that weird guy on the bus then come down Thursday, July 25th at 7:00pm to Roy St. Coffee and Tea.

As always, if you have any questions feel free to email me at [masked].

*************
The rules for stories are below but you know the kind we’re looking for: true stories that happened to you that still mean something to you days, months or even years later.

Best advice I can give you? Practice out loud. I know, it’s awkward. You’ll just have to trust me on this one.
You can read the rules/guidelines for storytelling here:

I want to thank everyone who came out last night to the show. I can’t always say exactly how I feel when I’m hosting the show ‘cos I have so many things running though my head and it’s hard to get all the words right. What I wish I had said at the end of the show is that listening to everyone share these stories makes me happier than almost anything else. I’m still working on the best wording for next month’s theme so stay tuned for that. I hope to get it out on Meetup and Facebook in the next few days.

    See you in a month.

Love the neighborhood; impossible to park though; any car pool opportunities from GreenLake?

I hear you man. I wish there something we could do about the parking. Feel free to use this site or our Facebook page to try to connect with people and get some carpools together.

Sorry I wasn't able to attend. We had something come up at the last minute. Robert, I live in Greenwood, so we can certainly carpool for the next one.

Hello again. Two messages in ten minutes. That's a new record for me.

Sorry to bug everyone but I want to let you guys know that from now on if you want the audio of your story I am happy to email it to you. It may take me a few days and I can't guarantee it the quality but I'll send you what I have. Turning audio into video (which is what YouTube requires) is very time consuming, at least on my computer, and I know some of you really want to see your stories online. So I'm doing the next best thing and offering to email you the audio so you can at have it at home.

One thing, though. Don't ask me to go back to old shows and hunt down your story. Seriously. That would kill me. Do you have any idea how many hours of unlabeled audio I have of this show? So this deal is only for shows from here on out.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.
