Parks and Rec Road Trip!

The National Parks have a scheduled free day to visit this upcoming Presidents' Day.

For those who haven't visited Kings Canyon and Sequoia during winter, you're missing out. It's a beautiful time to see the parks in all their winter glory and a perfect adventure for your children. From personal experience, I remember these rare trips as epic.

We'll be meeting at the Starbucks next to Walgreens on the NW corner of Kings Canyon and Clovis Ave to caravan to the parks. Anyone who needs a ride, let us know so we can make carpool arrangements.

Make sure you bring lunch, some water (or hot chocolate in a thermos), and warm clothes.

Note: The weather report says to expect rain and possibly snow in the mountains. I'm still going to make the trip, but some roads may be closed off.

Are we going to do any hiking there?

It depends on the weather and how much road upkeep has been able to be done. It's going to be raining/snowing, so it may be a bit touch and go, but we'll see.

    • Jennifer

Yes. Gives us a chance to see everyone who's going and plan a bit of the trip. And get coffee. ;)

Hi - may I join in a carpool? I don't drive and would love to see Sequoia - I have never been there.

Hi Jennifer - do you want me to meet over at the Starbucks in the morning and pick up a carpool from there. Or are you going to come pick me up at the house in the a.m.?

D'oh! I didn't even see you replied. I'll pick you up. No problem. :)

Jason and I will be coming from Hanford on the 198. We'll see how far we can get into the park without chains. We would like to meet up with you guys if we can.

Sounds fun. I am going to try, try to go. If I do go I'll have room for two. (my car is supposed to hold four, but back seat is probably best for just one person)
