Mid-Week Hike - Lake Natoma Bluffs
I am backpacking this week in prep to do the John Muir Trail and will not be leading this week nor in two weeks. I am leaving this posted per requests by regular attendees and hoping one of you will step up and lead this weeks hike. Please make a note in the comments section if you are willing to lead this week. Double posted with Hikers and Co. Can't make the 6:00 pm River Walk downtown each Wednesday? Come hike with us north of town between Fair Oaks and Folsom on this beginner or intermediate hike to get a mid week warm up or just release some of that workweek energy. Each week we hike as fast or as slow as the group chooses. We welcome and encourage beginners. Join us on the beautiful bluffs above Lake Natoma. We'll do about a 4 mile loop hike with the first few miles gradually going up Middleridge Trail to the rolling bluffs above the lake. We will follow the trail until it returns to lake level and we make our loop back on the lower Shady Trail near the lake and return to the trail head. There are wonderful wild flowers depending on the time of year. Due to overwhelming responses and the number of RSVP's from Hikers and Company parking for this event will be in the Snowberry Creek Assembly Area aka Shady Glen Riding Stables parking lot. From Sunset, turn left on Main then right into the first driveway marked Shady Glen Riding Stables. Once you turn in make another right into the gated lot. There is a pit toilet in this lot. Exit your car and walk the trail to the corner of Sunset and Main where some of us will also be parked. We will meet at the closed gate and the end of Main. More info below. Below is the turn around point but is more than half way done from here. Please RSVP if you are interested. PLEASE DO NOT BE A NO SHOW! We will meet at the end of Sunset Ave at Main Ave in Orangevale at 5:15 pm. We will start the hike at 5:20 pm. Double posted on Hiker and Company. This is a weather permitting hike. Rain cancels! Things to bring; comfortable shoes, plenty of water, appropriate clothes for the weather and a flash light or head lamp. It may be dark by the time we return to the cars depending on the time of year so I always like to go prepared. This hike will be no more than two hours depending on how fast we all walk. We leave no one behind as this is a beginners hike. A fast walker can do it in 75 minutes or less. We follow the "Leave no trace only footprints" policy. Call Jeff K at[masked] if you have any questions. Happy Trails!!!
