Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Sweep the Hooch

The Chattahoochee Riverkeepers are holding their 4th annual "Sweep the Hooch" at various sites, mostly around Atlanta. CHATTAHOOCHEE BEND SP is the only OFFICIAL CLEANUP SITE on the downriver side.

Join the Meetup here so we know you're coming, but...

In order to participate you MUST register through the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper site:

In the Volunteer Opportunity section, select Paddler and then select Chattahoochee Bend.

Once you sign up on the CR site you will be on the email list for notifications.

The park has several large canoes (preferred for trash hauling) and six Nucanoes that may be reserved for the event. These must be reserved in advance, and can be when you Join this meetup.

NOTE: Previously we have had opportunities for "Walkers", volunteers who clean trash from the park's riverbank via the Riverside Trail. While we do not anticipate that opportunity this year, we always have need for SUPPORT CREW.

Support Crew generally set up the facilities for the trash arrival, transport crew and gear to the put-in, etc. Crew transport requires a pickup truck or SUV, and if you have a short, narrow trailer, BONUS!

Thanks for bring my water bottle, Steve! Had a great time cleaning up and look forward to helping out more this summer!

Due to the flooding, we have opened up the option to be a Walker to assist with cleanup on the riverbanks, Riverside Trail bridges, Day Use Area and wherever else needed. Please use the link below to sign up. Deadline is NOON tomorrow, April 9 (though we will welcome walk-in Walkers with paper volunteer forms, no worries).

If you can't make it Saturday but you are free Thursday or Friday, there is a separate clean up event in this group.
